Middle School Course Overview

 

Our middle school course offerings are as follows:

6th Grade: Bible, Math Course I, World History, Physical Science, Language Arts, Study Skills/Reading

  • Heritage Studies 6 takes students on a tour of the history and culture of ancient civilizations like Egypt, China, Israel, Greece, Africa, the Mayas, and the Roman world.
  • Science 6 reveals the incredible intricacies of cells and organisms, matter and energy, astronomy, heredity, the nervous system, and the immune system.
  • Wordly Wise 3000 provides systematic academic vocabulary instruction—developing the critical link between vocabulary and reading comprehension. Books 6–8 present words commonly encountered in grade-level literature, textbooks, standardized tests, and the SAT. Word selection was based on word importance, usefulness, and/or difficulty. Knowledge of the selected words can greatly improve students’ reading comprehension, as well as standardized test results.

  • Bible: Route 66 This study provides a basic introduction to the structure and themes of the Word of God. As students journey through this fast-moving survey, they will discover truths and applications that God placed in each book of the Bible. God’s gracious work is clear—from creation to the cross to the consummation of time.

 

7th Grade: Bible, Math Course II or Pre-Algebra, Economics/Government, Life Science, Language Arts, Study Skills/Reading, Yearbook/Spanish I

  • World Studies provides a fresh look at the civilizations of the world through the lens of a Christian worldview. This edition begins with a brief review of history from Creation to the coming of Christ and progresses in a chronological journey around the world studying the ebb and flow of empires, cultures, Christianity, and world religions, concluding with an examination of the trends of the emerging 21st century.
  • Life Science provides a thorough overview of the life sciences in a new two-volume set with larger formatting and single-column text. Students will explore the living world from cellular biology and genetics to zoology and ecology.
  • Wordly Wise 3000 provides systematic academic vocabulary instruction—developing the critical link between vocabulary and reading comprehension.   • Bible: Dynamic Christian Living; Every Christian should desire to become like Christ. This study gives your students the tools to begin their journey toward spiritual maturity. They will gain an understanding of introductory Christian doctrine, including salvation, the study of the Bible, and the power of prayer. Students will learn how to live out their love for God and share Him with others.

8th Grade: Bible, Pre-Algebra or HS Algebra I, World Geography, Earth Science, Language Arts, Health, Yearbook/Spanish IB

  • American Republic unfolds the history of the United States through richly detailed narrative and a colorful, engaging presentation. Starting with the discovery of the New World, the text traces the path of American history up to the present day. In addition to a historical account, American Republic demonstrates the distinctiveness of American values and government, and emphasizes the importance of understanding and appreciating United States history.
  • Earth Science guides students in an examination of God’s handiwork. Affirming the young earth creationist view of the Earth’s history and disproving the evolutionary views pervading the scientific community and modern culture, the science educational materials presents an engaging study of scientific philosophies and models, meteorology, geology, and oceanography.
  • Total Health: Talking About Life's Changes focuses on the early teen years. Included in the student text are quotes from Junior High students from Christian schools expressing their questions and concerns about life. The author integrates scriptures and personal testimonies that help teens understand the value of opening up to their parent(s) and to God as they face their unique challenges.

  • Bible: Wise Up- Study of Proverbs; In middle school, young people face more and more decisions on their own. Soon they find that their new freedoms are followed by greater responsibility and higher expectations. Wise Up encourages your students to study the wisdom of God in Proverbs, allowing Him to shape their lives into the image of His Son, Christ.
